Dental Design |
We are working for easy restoration design. The operator is guided through all the steps of the design process. We rapidly design caps, crowns or bridges according to your needs: just select the tooth/teeth preparations you want to work on and specify which restoration type you want to receive.
Multi-dimensional interface - the software allows us to work in 3D and 2D simultaneously, depending on the required operation.
Teeth and pontics libraries - we create 3D teeth and pontics libraries or use the ones included with the system.
Real-time analysis - interactive tools to take measurements and compare results.
Productivity - the modeling can be completed in a few minutes and results can be assessed on screen in real time.
Automation - the software can automate a number of modeling steps, including finding the optimal insert direction, detect the preparation lines, detect and fill potential undercuts and estimate the orientation and scaling of crowns or pontics.
Flexibility - all modeling operations can be undone/redone at any point in the design process: the software recalculates the restoration according to your input in real time. Existing designs can opened and altered in a few clicks.
Open output format - all 3D files created and saved in an open and standard format (typically STL): We are looking for the cheapest mill oncompatible equipment, or have them manufactured by the service provider of your choice.
Some steps from the design process

Left: 3D scan of a bridge section. Right: Automatic detection of optimal insert direction |
|
Left: Adjustment of the automatically detected preparation line. Right: Adding the cement spacing based on userdefinable templates |
|
Left: Possibility to automatically remove undercuts. Right: Adjustment of pontic from the included libraries |
|
Left: Adjustment of the automatically positioned connector. Right: Adjustment of connector shape |

Dental 3D Scanner D-200™
Open and versatile 3D dental scanning
We are using the latest state-of-the-art 3D scanner to create accurate 3D scans of dies/stumps, inlay preparations, bridge preparations, bites/antagonists, wax-ups, full dental casts, and super-structures.
3D copies of the customer's dental casts or dies/stumps are available after a few minutes. Saved in an open format. The scanning system runs on a standard Windows™-based PC.

The brand-new scanner accurately scans a variety of dental preparations |
| Example of scanned preparation including the opposing teeth scanned from the bite impression. |
Image processing software automatically processes the images and creates accurate and fully surfaced 3D models.
Accurate and complete geometry
Unique features of the scanner guarantee superior scan results. The scanner captures the full geometry of the dental model in one scanning session with high accuracy, including any undercuts present on the original model.
- Fast and easy positioning of the objects in the scanner without compromising accuracy
- Consistently high levels of precision are guaranteed by projective geometry and a novel calibration of the laser, cameras and axes
- Undercuts on the original object are automatically captured: the object is placed on a rotation plate (360 degree rotation) and is moved along a linear axis (translation) and a secondary rotation axis (tilt) to ensure maximum exposure of the geometry to the cameras and laser

Overview of various dental items that are easily scanned in 3Shape's D-200 dental 3D scanner. From the upper left corner: die/stump, 4-unit bridge, full cast, inlay preparation, 12-unit bridge preparation and super structure. |
Main advantages
Versatility - We handle most types of dental models, according to your scanning needs: dies/stumps, inlays (incl. deep inlays), bridge preparations (from 2 to 14 units), bites, wax-ups (crowns, bridges), super-structures, pontics, full casts (up to 16 units), overbites (double scans), Telescopes.
Open file formats - the 3D files can be saved and exported in a number of standard formats, such as STL. This makes our Scanner fully compatible with all open solutions and applications available on the market
High and consistent levels of accuracy - continuous validation using Mititoyo™ metrology gauge blocks
One-button scanning - just place the object (cast, bridge, die) in the scanner -no precise positioning is necessary. Click on one button in the scanning software and 3Shape’s unique scanning technology ensures a complete coverage of the whole geometry of the object, including potential undercuts
Alignment of scanned parts - using 3Shape’s unique algorithms, the scanner automatically aligns different scanned parts (upper and lower bite, stump and dental cast etc.)
Automatic 3D model creation from scanned data - the scanner software automatically creates a surfaced 3D model from the acquired point cloud data.
