Treatment  Steps

What Exactly Does the Dental Implant Procedure Involve?

First, you will need to discuss your options with your dentist.  Together, it will be decided if you are a good candidate for dental implants.  The dentist will take a complete dental history, x-rays, and complete a thorough oral examination.  If you are a candidate for implant surgery, the procedure is as follows:

1.     Surgical placement of the implant(s) into the bone. This is usually done right in the dentist office, with a local anesthetic. After surgery, there is a healing period of approximately two to six months. During this time, the implants fuse to the bone by a process known as ‘Osseointegration’.

2.     Next, there is a minor surgical exposure of the top of the implant, which is may or may not be needed, whereby the dentist will attach the post to the implant.  The function of the post is to become the support for either one tooth or a set of teeth. This is a short procedure that usually requires only local anesthesia.

3.     The last phase is the restorative phase.  The dentist will take impressions and then make a prosthesis that will attach to the implants. This will require several visits. Once completed, your mouth will be restored to natural looking, strong teeth.

Implant solutions MADE IN GERMANY

Dental implants are biocompatible metal anchors surgically positioned in the jaw bone underneath the gums to support an artificial crown where natural teeth are missing. They are in no way cemented or connected to remaining teeth like traditional crowns or bridges. Implants re usually made from a metal called titanium, which is readily ccepted by the body. Next, the crown is laboratory-fabricated  similar to natural tooth supported crowns. Accepted by the erican Dental Association, dental implants have been used or many years and hundreds of thousands of them have been laced. How does it work? There is a phenomenon called osteointegration, meaning that titanium is so compatible that bone actually attaches itself to the implant. Advantages include ncreased stability of dentures while also reducing long-term bone

resorption, the ability to restore a missing tooth without altering

the teeth on either side of the space.

Comparing Implants To Natural Teeth

Dental implants are an ideal tooth replacement therapy because implants closely mimic natural teeth.

All natural teeth have a dentin core, surrounded by an enamel coating, and are anchored in the jaw bone by their roots.

A completed dental implant has a crown, which replicates the appearance of the enamel coating of the surrounding

natural teeth. The crown is fixed to an abutment, or post,

the equivalent of the dentin core. The post is attached

to the titanium implant, which is anchored in the jaw bone and acts as the root of the replacement tooth.
